EVALUATING ACADEMIC INNOVATION

Innovation, best defined by changes that bring social impact, is often based on discoveries, inventions and translation – terms with which the word innovation itself is frequently mixed up.  An environment that is central to the development of academic innovation may be considered as the knowledge triangle.

The knowledge triangle consists of research and technology, higher education and business at its three points are part of KIC’s, that is a Knowledge and Innovation Community.

Measuring and evaluating the academic research and education support for innovation and its changes is the basis of research by Alexander von Gabain, a research scientist and entrepreneur who is currently Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Innovation and Commercial Outreach at the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.
